Breathing new life into an old chair at an upholstery course

Our photographer and web master Debbie Harris of 2up came along to Retrorecyclers last week to renovate one of her old chairs at one of our taster sessions – here is how she got on!

Before and after upholstery taster

After photographing a taster session at Retro recylers last week I was inspired to returen with a little project of my own – an old mahogany chair that has been languishing in our loft for many years. Over the course of the morning I set to work transforming the chair into something a little bit better with the help of Sue from Sue’s upholstery who runs the classes. She was a great teacher – encouraging me whilst making sure that I did everything properly (I had to unpick one part as it wasn’t up to scratch!). It was a lovely way to spend a morning and great to do something hands on in the real, rather than the virtual, world. Hopefully you will agree that the finished chair is a great improvement – I think there are one or two more in the loft so I will be back to do more!

Make it Monday! Make it Monday! Make it Monday! Make it Monday! Make it Monday! Make it Monday! Make it Monday! Make it Monday! Make it Monday! Make it Monday! Make it Monday! Make it Monday! Make it Monday! Make it Monday!
